Grants Picnic Ground -
sits within the Sherbrooke Forest, the largest section of Dandenong Ranges National Park.
June 2013 it had the most rainfall in History in Victoria for the month. It made Grants Picnic Ground extremely damp but not cold on 15th. Lyrebirds have their healthy numbers. Plenty of mating calls on the walk made the trip a worthwhile. My camera was just not quite happy with the light as all gum trees are tall and straight. Even though the Sun did come out late in the morning but it was very hard to reach at the bottom of gum trees and ferns. The above photo was taken during Grants Picnic Ground Walk. It was overexposed as I used high ISO and High exposure compensation. I wasn't happy about it initially. After editing it with Canon Zoombrowzer by adjusting the light condition. It turns out exactly the colour what I saw in the forest. In order to reflect the true colour, I had to make the background black. I love the contrast!
Superb Lyrebird was the purpose of this walk. It was not easy to photograph one in the low light. I got one at the last.
Here is David Attenborough's youtube for the amazing calls of Superb Lyrebird: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjE0Kdfos4Y&noredirect=1. or just search for Superb Lyrebird on youtube.

All kind of mushrooms are thrived after rain. It was a perfect environment for them. It was damp and dark. I love the contrast of colours. white, green, brown and yellow.
The highlight of the day was to see Gang-gang Cockatoos and Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos. The photo on the left was a young male Gang-gang. Here are some more photos to share.
Again, I liked the colour - yellow and grey with a tint of brown on the eucalypt tree.
On the trip, we also spotted a family of three Eastern Grey Kangaroos and a Swamp Wallaby.
